“That’s right. I’m here. You may think that saying such a thing is arrogant and pretentious. Well, it is. Everyone should think of themselves as the best ever. Self-love should never have a negative connotation and, frankly, should be celebrated. This doesn’t mean that I expect people to worship at my altar of awesome, quite the opposite in fact. It just means that, for better or worse, I have arrived.” – Rachael Ortego
Dear Friends and Readers,
You may have realized by now that one of my favorite things in life is finding hidden gems. I’d like to introduce you to one such gem in particular, Rachael Ortego.
Rachael is a woman I am proud to say is one of my best friends, but she’s much more than that. See, I’ve known Rachael for several years. She and I even went to high school together, but because she’s much cooler than me we weren’t friends until later.
Years ago, I won’t say how many, she and I worked together on an out of town assignment for about a week. Working overnights and driving home at dawn, we bonded over mutual exhaustion and delirious hilarity. Even though we’ve been in and out of touch over the years, that bond has not diminished in the least. Recently, we have reconnected, this time over writing. I’d never known I was a writer, and I sure didn’t know she was. So imagine my utter delight when I discovered that she and I had one more thing in common.
Having read her work, I’m blown away. She has graciously agreed to let me post a few of her stories here, and we’re working toward a few mutual goals together. I hope you’ll welcome her into our warm community with all the love and support you’ve shown me. I look forward to walking this path beside her, for as long as our paths remain the same.
Sincerely, and with a heart full to bursting…
